Bill Tara is for over 40 years an advocate for a natural approach to healing. He started his educational work in 1967 by teaching in Boston. He founded centres in Chicago, Los Angeles and the Community Health Foundation in London. Over the years he became a much asked-for and renowned teacher of macrobiotics. He gave seminars on macrobiotics, ecology and Mind & Body in over 20 countries. He is the author of the book ‘Macrobiotics and Human Behaviour’. Kyoko Onishi (jp/be)
Born in Tokyo Kyoko Onishi currently lives in Brugge, Belgium. She studied literature, art and eastern medicine. She studied macrobiotics with Lima Ohsawa and Omori sensei for 7 years. After graduating she worked as Lima Ohsawa’s assistant in her Lima Cooking school in Japan. In 1981 Kyoko moved to Belgium, worked as an artist and also passed on her knowledge and practice of macrobiotic principles and the Ohsawa Fucha cooking style to western people. She always looks for the best quality and tries in her unique and artistic way to give her knowledge of the effects of food on the human body and of eastern tradition a western approach. Kyoko Onishi is a respected teacher not only in Japan but also in France, England, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Ineke van Schaik is involved with macrobiotics for over 35years. She studied and stayed with Michio en Aveline Kushi, Herman en Cornelia Aihara, Noboru Muramoto en Masanobu Fukuoba in the United States and Japan. She attended a 5 month cooking training with the Japanese macrobiotic head-cook Hiroshi Hyashi, at the Seventh Inn macrobiotic Restaurant in Boston US. Formally trained as a social worker for businesses she combined natural food and natural psychology in her business training. She is the main teacher of macrobiotic philosophy at the Rotterdam Oost West Center and is editing member of the Genmai publishing company for macrobiotic books and writes and translates articles and books on the subject. She is supporting the art of natural education in the Rotterdam East West Centre for more than 20 years.

Jan Vervecken is founder and director of the Internationale Shiatsu School België (ISS), affiliated with the International Macrobiotic Institute (IMI) in Switserland, where he teaches, and the Saul Goodman Shiatsuschool in America. He studied in Japan and America and worked in the Brandnetel food shop in Antwerp for many years. Together with his wife Mieke he gives weekend Macrobiotic Shiatsu Trainings in Vremde and weeklong mb shiatsu trainings in Antwerp. Being a shiatsu therapist he also gives individual treatments and consultations around movement, food and lifestyle.

Mieke Vervecken-Pieters (be)
Mieke Vervecken-Pieters studied okido yoga with Oki Sensei in Japan. Next to yoga became cooking her great passion. As founder and head teacher of the ‘Natuurlijke Kookschool’ she inspired during 15 years a great deal of people helping them to develop their macrobiotic way of eating. She gives private consultations and personal guidance. She is the head-cook of Rosas – P.A.R.T.S. the dance company and international ballet school directed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in Brussels. She is also guiding the cooks of the Tibetan Buddhist Centre ‘Lerab Ling’ of Sogyul Rinpoche (south of France).

Marc Vervecken is an experienced and much asked teacher in Belgium and abroad. He healed himself from a back-sickness and became specialist for back problems. He studied shiatsu, macrobiotics and Oki Yoga with Masahiro Oki Sensei in Mishima Japan. His teaching are the result of many years of self-study and experience as yoga teacher and shiatsu therapist.

Marja Verroen was introduced to the universal principles of yin and yang in 1972 when she attended cooking classes and decided to give her life a new orientation towards the study and practice of a natural lifestyle. She studied at the KI Amsterdam, did level 1,2,3 in Antwerp, attended a Cooks Training Course in London and studied and practiced in Kiental at the IMI (Switzerland). Her teachers were a.o. Michio Kushi, Shizuko Yamamoto, Kyoko Onishi, Susan Stokes, Katriona Forrester, Karen and Steven Acuff. She did a 3- year traineeship with Rik Vermuyten, food consultant in Antwerp in 1988 and co- founded with 2 partners the Gimsel, natural food shop at the Botersloot and the Oost West Centre in Rotterdam. She is also co-founder of the Groene Passage in Rotterdam, the largest organic and environment-friendly shopping mall in the Netherlands.

Frans Saat is a formally trained architect and social worker and was introduced to macrobiotics in 1970. He studied in Antwerpen, Belgium en Kiental, Switserland at the Kushi Institute. He graduated with distinction from the natural vegetables courses at the Kraaybeekerhof. In 1988 he founded with 2 partners a small natural food shop and educational centre in Rotterdam. This gradually developed into the organic and environment-friendly project the Groene Passage, a joined venture of 8 entrepreneurs making a natural lifestyle visible and do-able. Under the roof of the Groene Passage are: Natural food supermarket Gimsel, De Groene Weg bio- organic meat shop, Himalaya new age bookshop, Van Binnen, durable interior decoration, Fair Trade Shop, bio-restaurant Spirit, Oost WestCentrum for education and publishing company Genmai. He is also teaching and practicing Feng Shui.

Anna Mackenzie is a Health Counsellor, Space Clearing Practitioner and Cooking Teacher. Qualifying at art school as a designer, she made clothes for fashion and theatre for many years before studying Macrobiotics with Aveline, Michio Kushi and many superb teachers from USA and Europe. She worked at the CHF, managed the East West restaurant and chaired the MBA. For the past 25 years she has given workshops and classes in Macrobiotic cooking, natural health and lifestyle, cycles and ceremony and space clearing in many countries, working with individuals, families and groups. Her style is spontaneous and practical using sound, dance, story and movement to reflect her macro philosophy that life is sacred and a miracle to cherish. The energy of true food and physical movement with the spirit of integrity and inquiry revitalize our soul and we can sustain our wholeness and freedom!

Paul Rausenberger (be)
Paul Rausenberger has a lifelong experience as a teacher as well as a therapist. He started his long career as kinesiology-physiotherapist and kept evaluating: doctorate in chiropraxy(U.S.A.) macrobiotic studies, doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine (England, China) acupuncture, moxabustion, cupping, herbal medicine, Tai Chi, pressure point massage, Inner child, Transformational Breathing, Meditations and Visualisations. From 1972-1980 he was head of the education department of The Anglo-Dutch College of Acupunture, from 1980-2991 he was director and teacher at EUTCM (European University of TCM) and trainings in Craniosacrale relaxation. Paul Rausenberger is still practicing in Schilde, Belgium.

Francisco Varatojo is director of the Macrobiotic Institute of Portugal. He did his studies at the Kushi Institute in Boston; since the Eighties he is one of the best qualified macrobiotic counsellors in Europe. Samen met zijn vrouw leidt hij het uitgebreide cursusprogramma van het Instituut. He does consultations, writes books and gives lectures all around the World. He is particularly interested in the application of macriobotic principles in the fields of natural healing and the solution of social problems.
